3rd time for the founder of Chiru Bikes.
After 9 days and 9 hours of a race on the Silk Road, Pierre-A. Le Magnan finished joint 3rd with Kim Raeymaekers on this first edition of the Silk Road Mountain race.
1700km and 30000m of ascent in the heart of Central Asia to discover Kyrgyzstan.
On this race, the full meaning of the word “adventure” comes to life in total immersion with nature. The fact that the course was not always accurate, or even dangerous at certain points, shows that this new type of course deserves to be better mastered to guarantee rider’s safety, as is the case in other, more mature adventure disciplines.
It’s worth noting that Pierre and Kim were downgraded from 3rd place after a rider complained about a point not covered by the rules. However, the 2 riders requested race director for precise instructions and complied with them as far as conditions allowed. It was in contradiction to these successive communications with management that they learned of their downgrading, much to their incomprehension.
The Chiru Kegeti was developed for this race and has proved to be an excellent machine for this type of off-road adventure, where comfort combined with performance and optimum reliability are decisive assets.
