Congratulations to Manu Cattrysse for his second-place finish on the Highland Trail 550 2023, which he completed in 3 days 9 hours and 2 minutes on his Chiru Divider.
After Ben Steurbaut’s 2nd place in 2019 and a 2nd place for Manu on the Divide 2022 tour, it seems that the Chiru Brigade has become a regular for places of honour of bikepacking races that matters!
The suspense for victory was complete right up to the final kilometers between Angus and Manu. Only a few kilometers behind Angus throughout the race, Manu came back to Angus on the morning of the last day of racing. It was only 10 km from the finish that everything fell apart for Manu when his tire tore. All his hopes of victory and breaking the event record went up in smoke, and he had to be content with2nd place.
These 2 will have kept us on the edge of our seats like never before! It’s also worth noting that each of the previous winners of this event has done so on a variety of set-ups: all-suspended, all-rigid or semi-rigid. On this atypical course, everyone was able to imagine the ideal machine to push back their limits!
