PIERRE ARNAUD LE MAGNAN

FOUNDER + C.e.o

Twenty years ago, CHIRU President and CEO, Pierre Arnaud Le Magnan, was hired by a major french bike company to perform stress test analysis on new bike designs. He went on to design and build carbon-fiber sports products and design ideas for mountain bikes. He has owned and operated a custom automobile parts manufacturing company for many years using both metal and carbon technologies.

Pierre's passion for innovative and optimised bike design is so strong, he felt it was time to take it to the next level; thus starting CHIRU bikes in 2009. As a result of his expertise, know-how, endless testing sessions and racing experience, CHIRU has created a unique, high end mountain bike for the discerning rider and racer.

Carbon fiver technology applied to bicycle frames is now reliable and widely accepted. The benefits from high performance-weight ratio and superior vibration damping give the biker optimal performance and comfort through the ride. CHIRU bike's philosophy focuses on power transfer, comfort and reliability, this makes CHIRU frames more responsive, more efficient and very exciting to ride.

OUR SPIRIT ANIMAL

WHAT IS A 'CHIRU'?

We are named after the animal that roams the Tibetan plateau. The Chiru is a much sought after animal for its fur, the finest in the world which gives the famous 'shatoosh'. They live in the most arid, high and inhospitable parts of the world. This is exactly what we ask of our bikes: survive the toughest conditions. The Chiru is our spirit animal and we felt it our duty to contribute 2% of all proceeds to help protect this endangered species from poachers.

FRASER YOUNG

ABOUT FRASER

Hometown: Victoria, Canada

Date of Birth: 10/28/1977

Nickname: 鬍子哥 / The Stache

Height / Weight: 178cm / 74kg

Discipline: xc/road

Coach: n/a

Started Riding In: I've always had a bike but I started to get more serious in the early 1990s

First Bike: Bianchi BMX

Club: n/a

Favourite Race Course: The KOM in Taiwan is a great race course - it's a road race that starts at sea level and rises to 3275m over about 80km. The views are amazing but the race is really, really tough.

Favourite training: Motor pacing or fast group rides when guys are trying to kill each other for hours and hours

Favourite race food: A can of ice cold Coke near the end of a race Worst experience in a race: When I went to the 24 world championships in the USA in 2015, my contact lenses dried out after about 12 hours of racing. My vision got so bad that I couldn't see the ground clearly and had to stop racing for a few hours. I was doing really well up to that time so it was really disappointing

Proudest moment: The first year I won the Super 8 (8 hour mtb race in Taiwan). I set the course record and surprised a lot of people!

Hobbies: I love to grab a coffee and a book and chill out.

Occupation: Asia Sales Manager at Ritchey Logic

If your house was on fire and you could only grab three things what would they be? My pets (but there are more than three so I’d end up getting burnt, I guess!)

If you only had one day to live what three things would you do? I’d ride my bike - anywhere would do! And after an epic ride, I’d eat a big meal with my family and friends.

Do you have any hidden talents?  Nope. Sadly, I don't have any obvious talents either!

Name two things you consider yourself to be very bad at? Anything artistic - singing / dancing / painting / playing music

When you were a kid what did you want to grow up to be? I had no ambitions as a kid so you can say that I’m living my dream!
